Michael Keaton returns as The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2!
Following this morning’s news that Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Okja) is in talks to play supervillain Mysterio in Marvel Studios’ forthcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Variety brings word that Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as The Vulture as well! Could this mean we’re finally getting The Sinister Six onscreen? The article also points out that Marvel is currently auditioning actresses in their 20’s for a lead female role.
The post-credits scene of the first Homecoming movie saw Keaton’s Adrian Toomes in prison being confronted by a scarred Mac Gargan (Michael Mando), who says he knows “some boys on the outside” who would love to meet (i.e. kill) Spider-Man. However, Toomes refuses to give up Peter Parker’s identity, likely indicating that he’s grateful to the webcrawler… or possibly wants to do the kid in himself. Gargan is the alter-ego of Spidey’s comic book nemesis The Scorpion, another occasional member of The Sinister Six.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously confirmed that the 2019 sequel to Homecoming will take Peter Parker out of New York for a European adventure in London that will reflect the global aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.
The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel (which Kevin Feige has said will not be called “Homecoming 2”) is already scheduled for July 5, 2019, and Tom Holland recently confirmed a third film is also in the works. The follow-up will feature Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in his Junior year at Midtown School of Science and Technology following the events of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and its summer 2019 sequel, which will also feature Holland as Spider-Man.[Gallery not found]
