Scream Queens actor Diego Boneta joins the cast of the Terminator reboot
The Hollywood Reporter says that actor Diego Boneta will be joining the cast of the new Terminator movie. He has been reported to be in negotiations for a key role in the upcoming film.
Diego Boneta is most known for his work on FX’s Scream Queens and Rock of Ages. He can also be seen starring alongside Sam Worthington in the sci-fi film The Titan on Netflix, and in the upcoming Netflix Spanish-language biopic titled Luis Miguel. The series focuses on telling the story of one of the most famous singers in Latin America. The series premieres on Netflix on April 23, 2018.
Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049, Halt and Catch Fire, The Martian) recently joined Arnold Schwarzenegger in Skydance’s new Terminator movie, which will begin production this summer. The new film’s director, Tim Miller, had originally eyed Davis to portray Domino in Deadpool 2 before he departed that sequel.
The next Terminator movie is both set to start a new trilogy of films and also work as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ignoring Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, and Terminator Genisys. In addition to Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton will also return to the franchise as a “seasoned warrior” version of Sarah Connor.
James Cameron, who will regain the Terminator rights in 2019, is producing the new film series with David Ellison of Skydance. The filmmaker originally sold the rights to the original film for $1 to producer Gale Anne Hurd, with the agreement that he would be allowed to direct The Terminator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first film earned $78.4 million worldwide and was topped by Cameron’s highly-acclaimed sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which grossed $519.8 million worldwide.
Billy Ray (The Hunger Games) wrote the most recent draft of the script, which was conceived by Cameron, Miller and Ellison. Last week we saw that the untitled Terminator project’s release date was bumped back to November 22, 2019.
