Scarlett Johansson is set to star in Taika Waitit’s upcoming film JoJo Rabbit
Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Infinity War) is in final talks to star in the upcoming Fox Searchlight film JoJo Rabbit, according to Variety. JoJo Rabbit is the story of a young boy in Hitler’s army who learns that his mom is hiding a Jewish boy in the house. Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) wrote and will direct the project and will star as the boy’s imaginary friend who is Adolph Hitler, though he’s a projection of a boy who is confused by Nazi propaganda and who is missing his father.
In addition to writing, directing and starring in JoJo Rabbit, Waititi is going to produce the film with Carthew Neal and Chelsea Winstanley. Production on the film is set to begin this spring.
Johansson is known for her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she plays Natasha Romanov, a.k.a. Black Widow. She’ll be seen next in the latest installment Avengers: Infinity War, which will hit theaters on April 27. She was recently seen in Ghost in the Shell, the film adaptation of the popular anime/manga. She also starred in the Sony comedy Rough Night. Johansson is also voicing a role in the upcoming Wes Anderson film Isle of Dogs.
