Olivia Munn & Justin Theroux Join Justine Bateman’s Violet

Variety is reporting that Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse, Office Christmas Party) and Justin Theroux (The Girl on the Train, The Leftovers) will star in Violet, the directorial debut of actress Justine Bateman (Desperate Housewives, Family Ties). Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace, Annabelle: Creation) will also star, with filming slated to begin in Los Angeles this spring.

Violet follows the title character (Munn), “a rising film executive who lives according to the Voice (Theroux) in her head, until unexpectedly realizing the truth — it’s been lying about everything. LaPaglia portrays her boss, who dilutes her confidence in a way similar to the Voice.”

Bateman wrote the script and will produce for her Section 5 production company alongside with Mark G. Mathis (Precious), with Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) executive producing.

Munn will reprise her role as Psylocke in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, has a major role in Shane Black’s The Predator, and will appear in Ocean’s 8. Theroux will next appear in the Ruth Bader Ginsberg biopic On the Basis of Sex opposite Felicity Jones, as well as in the action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me opposite Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon. Both Theroux and Munn previously worked together in voice roles for The LEGO Ninjago Movie, while both appeared in Zoolander 2, which Theroux co-wrote.
