Lance Reddick (Fringe) has joined Gerard Butler (300), Morgan Freeman (Se7en), Jada Pinkett Smith (The Matrix Reloaded) and Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs) in the upcoming film Angel Has Fallen, according to THR. Reddick, who is known for roles in the John Wick film series, The Wire and Fringe, will play Gentry, the interim director of the secret service. Video game fans will also recognize Reddick as the voice of Commander Zavala in Destiny: The Taken King.

The third film in the series follows Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) as he becomes the target of a terrorist attack, this time while mid-flight on Air Force One. The original filmOlympus Has Fallen, saw the White House (codenamed “Olympus”) captured by a terrorist mastermind. With President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) kidnapped, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning’s inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger disaster.

In the sequel, London Has Fallen, the British Prime Minister dies unexpectedly, and Banning knows it is his duty to prep with Secret Service Director Lynne Jacobs (Angela Bassett) for them to accompany Asher to the state funeral at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. With every powerful world leader set to attend, the funeral should be the most protected even on earth. Yet within moments of arriving, heads of government are assassinated and London landmarks are attacked. Asher, Banning, and Jacobs are ambushed and retreat amidst a hail of gunfire and explosives.

The devastated British capital goes into lockdown. Banning will stop at nothing to secure Asher’s safe return home. Back at the White House, Vice President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) races against time brainstorming with top advisors in the Situation Room to get those trapped in London a lifeline of support and a way out. Outnumbered and outgunned, Banning reaches out for help to an English MI6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one. Failure is not an option as they attempt to stop the criminals from carrying out the final phase of their revenge plan.

Angel Has Fallen is being directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Shot Caller) and produced by Millennium Films. The movie was scripted by Olympus writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, and will also star Mark Gill, Matt O’Toole, Alan Siegel, and John Thompson. Avi Lerner, Christine Ota, and Trevor Short will serve as executive producers.
