Bill Skarsgård and Maika Monroe join the dark comedy thriller Villains
Bill Skarsgård (IT) and Maika Monroe (It Follows) have joined the dark comedy thriller Villains for The Realm and Star Thrower Entertainment. The script for Villains comes to us from Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. The two wrote the script, which ended up on the 2016 Black List, and they are set to direct the film.
Villains is the story of two amateur criminals who break into a home and find a young girl chained up in the basement. The two homeowners are set to make sure no one knows about her. Trevor and Tim White will produce for Star Thrower with production head Allan Mandelbaum. The Realm’s Garrick Dion will produce as well. BRON’s Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth from Creative Wealth Media will executive produce, with Rick Rickertsen and Mary Solomon co-producing.
Skarsgård is best known for his role as Pennywise in Warner Bros.’ re-adaptation of Stephen King’s IT; he most recently starred in Assassination Nation, directed by Sam Levinson, and produced by BRON, which was acquired by NEON and AGBO. Monroe starred in David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows; Elijah Bynum’s Hot Summer Nights alongside Timothée Chalamet; The Tribes of Palos Verdes alongside Jennifer Garner; and will next be seen in The Widow alongside Chloë Grace Moretz and Isabelle Huppert.
