Thomas Haden Church in Mystery Role for Superhero Film

Thomas Haden Church (SidewaysWings) revealed in an interview with JoBlo that he filmed a mystery role last year for an upcoming superhero movie that isn’t going to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Church was asked if he had any interest in returning to the genre, especially now that it has gotten even bigger after his one time playing the supervillain Sandman in Sony’s Spider-Man 3 back in 2007. He had this to say:

“I’m not supposed to talk about it, but I actually have returned, but not in the Marvel world, it’s another world, but it is in that genre of superheroes and supervillains. I’m not supposed to talk about it, it’s a movie I shot last year. They’re trying to keep it-and good luck to ‘em-with, y’know, today man, I’m surprised it hasn’t already kinda been revealed.”

With the Marvel Studios’ movies already being ruled out for him to appear in (unless he’s talking about Sony’s Marvel Universe movie Venom), it’s more likely now that Church will be a character in one of the DC Entertainment films, headlined by iconic heroes Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman. As for which particular DC movie Church might appear in, Aquaman is the safest bet. The Jason Momoa-led film already wrapped up shooting last year, while the next one in DC’s production pipeline Shazam has just started production this year.

What do you think Church’s mystery role is in which movie? Let us know in the comments!
