Westworld’s Angela Sarafyan joins Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
Westworld‘s Angela Sarafyan has joined the cast of the upcoming indie film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, according to Deadline. The film stars Zac Efron (High School Musical) as serial killer Ted Bundy in the film. Voltage Pictures and Cota Films will produce and Joe Berlinger (Metallica: Some Kind of Monster) is set to direct. The screenplay, which won the Nicholl Fellowship, was on the Black List and is written by Michael Werwie.
Production on the new Zac Efron film began a few days ago. Angela Sarafyan will reportedly play Joanna, who is a close friend of Bundy’s longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lily Collins). Joanna “acts as a support system for Elizabeth is the reason she finally questions Bundy’s intentions.” Also in the cast is John Malkovich, who is playing Edward Cowart, who judged the case in 1979.
The film is told through the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, who went years denying the accusations against Bundy but ultimately turned him in to the police. Only nearing his execution, when Bundy began talking about his extensive and heinous murders, did Kloepfer, and the rest of the world, learn the true scope of his numerous and grizzly crimes.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be produced by Nicholas Chartier and Ara Keshishian for Voltage and Michael Costigan for Cota Films. Efron’s Ninjas Runnin’ Wild will also produce along with Michael Simkin and Jason Barret. Werwie, Jonathan Deckter, Stephen Gates of Ellipsis Entertainment Group and Brad Kaplan of Primary Wave Entertainment will executive produce.
