Earlier today, it was reported that “Doctor Who” star Noel Clarke joined J.J. Abrams’ Untitled Star Trek Sequel, and now Deadline is saying that another BBC star has joined the cast, and it’s Benedict Cumberbatch, star of their show “Sherlock” playing an undisclosed role.
Cumberbatch can currently be seen in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and the adaptation of John Le Carré’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which expands nationwide this Friday. He’s also been cast to portray the dragon Smaug (using performance capture) and voice the Necromancer in Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” movies.
J.J.Abrams’ Untitled Star Trek Sequel is set for a May 17, 2013 release.
