Dragon Tattoo Sequel Moving Forward

Sony’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which cost about $90 million to make (not counting marketing costs), has earned $60 million at the domestic box office and will still be hitting many international territories in January. So, while some are saying it’s underperforming, it’s no surprise that the studio is moving forward with plans to make the sequel, The Girl Who Played with Fire.

?[Dragon Tattoo] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book,? a Sony rep told Entertainment Weekly. “Development continues? on the sequel and Steven Zaillian is still working on the script as planned.

It is unclear whether David Fincher will return to direct at this point, but Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are both signed for the other two films.
