Benjamin Bratt has signed on to star opposite Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming Snitch, Variety reports.
Inspired by true events chronicled in a PBS “Frontline” documentary, the film centers on a devoted father whose son faces 30 years in prison after being set up in a drug deal. The father goes undercover in the drug world to make a bust that will free his son.
Ric Roman Waugh will direct and rewrote a script by Justin Haythe. David Fanning and Gordon Gray are producing with Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper also attached to star, targeting an early 2013 release.
Bratt, who will play a Mexican criminal involved in the drug trade, is best known for his former role on “Law & Order” and his current role on “Private Practice.”
