IM Global and Scott Free have announced the cast of the upcoming sci-fi romance Zoe has added four more to its ranks, including six-time Grammy winner Christina Aguilera (Burlesque, ABC’s Nashville), Theo James (The Secret Scripture, Divergent series), Rashida Jones (The Social Network, Angie Tribeca) and Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings film franchise, Showtime’s Homeland). Matthew Gray Gubler (500 Days of Summer, Criminal Minds) has also joined in a supporting role. They join a cast that includes Ewan McGregor (Beauty and the Beast, Fargo, Miles Ahead) and Léa Seydoux (Spectre, The Grand Budapest Hotel).
Drake Doremus (Like Crazy, Breath In) is set to direct the film with principal photography beginning in Montreal on May 8. Written by Rich Greenberg (The Beauty Inside), the story follows two colleagues (played by McGregor and Seydoux) at a revolutionary research lab who design technology to improve and perfect romantic relationships. As their work progresses, their discoveries become more profound than they could ever have imagined.
Theo James will next be seen in the starring role in the political thriller Backstabbing for Beginners, Rashida Jones can be currently seen on the third season of TBS’s Angie Tribeca, Miranda Otto can currently be seen on FOX’s 24: Legacy, and Matthew Gray Gubler can currently be seen on Criminal Minds.
