Dumb and Dumber Sequel Hires Writers

With plans for a sequel originally reported by ComingSoon.net earlier this year, Deadline now has word that another Dumb and Dumber film has hired the writing pair of Sean Anders and John Morris.

“We’re talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about,” Carrey said this past June. “…There’s ‘Bruce Almighty’ and we’re talking about maybe another ‘Dumb and Dumber.'”

Now it appears that the Dumb sequel could go first as Bobby and Peter Farrelly want to make it their followup to next year’s The Three Stooges, reuniting Carrey with co-star Jeff Daniels.

The original Dumb and Dumber, released in 1994, represented one of Carrey’s breakout comedy roles. The film was given a prequel in 2003 with Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.

Anders and Morris are best known as the pair behind the comedy Sex Drive as well as the upcoming I Hate You, Dad.
