Alien Queen Teased in New Alien: Covenant Poster

20th Century Fox has just released a cool new Alien: Covenant poster that at first sight simply looks like a badass, H.R. Giger-inspired relief sculpture, but look again. When you look at the image above, or in full in our gallery below, you can see at the very top center a very specific shape: The head of an Alien Queen!

Don’t believe us? Take a look at the below image from James Cameron’s Aliens and tell us that doesn’t look a lot like the Queen’s very distinctive dome. After all, if Scott is gonna bring back Xenomorphs, he’s gotta have something laying the eggs, right? The Alien Queen was designed by Cameron and make-up artist Stan Winston, extrapolating from Giger’s original designs. She was introduced in Aliens, then also made appearances in 1997’s Alien: Resurrection and 2004’s AvP: Alien vs Predator.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
