Power Rangers Sequels: ‘Six Movie Story Arc’ Planned by Saban

There is a ‘six movie story arc’ planned for the Power Rangers sequels

It appears that there is not only one Power Rangers sequel in the works, but as many as five. In an interview with Variety, Haim Saban, founder of Saban Entertainment, which produces and distributes the Power Rangers TV series, said, “We already have a six-movie story arc.” The 1993 TV series The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, based on the Japanese tokusatsu Super Sentai has been on TV in some form or another for over two decades. The current film stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston and Bill Hader.

In the interview, Saban says, “If this film is as successful as I hope on March 24, on March 25 we’ll have the first story meeting for Movie No. 2.” Here is the official synopsis: “Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.”

Considering how many different versions of the TV series there are, including ones set in the jungle, in space and many, many more, it seems like a Power Rangers sequel  is a no-brainer. That said, as Saban points out, it depends on how this film does at the box office when it’s released this weekend. We want to hear from you.
