Iconic actor Nicolas Cage dropped in to the Alamo Drafthouse’s Caga marathon and read a passage from Poe
Audiences and legendary Austin, TX cinema hot spot Alamo Drafthouse got the surprise of their life this past weekend when Academy Award winning cult actor/performance artist Nicolas Cage made a surprise appearance at the 4th annual C4GED marathon, an all night event that screens 4 Cage classics to celebrate his birthday. Suddenly, without warning Cage himself dropped in to say hello, conducting a 45 minute Q&A and, most awesomely…reading Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart!
He then proceeded to spend the next 12 hours watching Nicolas Cage films that he personally programmed with the most rabid Nicolas Cage fans in the country. And also presiding over an in-theater marriage proposal. The films Cage curated were Bangkok Dangerous, Joe, Bringing Out the Dead, Army of One and The Lord of War.
But man…Cage reading Poe live on stage without warning? Can you imagine being there for this madness? Luckily, the Alamo crew filmed it and now you can see it for yourself below…
