Emma Stone Up for Gangster Squad ?

Emma Stone is the latest name to be associated with the upcoming period ensemble Gangster Squad, Variety reports. If she signs on, it will re-team the actress with her Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer.

Adapted from a series of L.A. Times articles, Gangster Squad explores the true story of a band of secret “off the record” police task force who went after Meyer Harris “Mickey” Cohen, a high-profile gangster who was a member of the “Jewish Mafia” in the 1940’s. The current cast includes Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña, Bryan Cranston and Giovanni Ribisi.

Stone would play the part of Jean, who is said to be part of a love triangle between Penn and Gosling’s characters. The actress was just featured last week in a cameo in Friends With Benefits and will soon appears on the big screen in both Crazy, Stupid, Love. (opposite Gosling) and The Help. She’s also set to appear next summer in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man in the part of Gwen Stacy.
