SDCC: Machete Sequels Announced

Robert Rodriguez just took to the Hall H stage at the San Diego Comic-Con to reveal that Machete is set to return to theaters with two sequels (as have been teased since the very first Grindhouse faux-trailer).

“Both ‘Machete’ sequels have been greenlit,” says Rodriguez, though he added that the first one is currently the only one guaranteed to have a full-length film involved. The third will exist (for the time being) only in trailer form.

To be titled Machete Kills, the sequel will include fake footage for the third film, now titled Machete Kills Again… In Space!. Rodriguez promises that it will include space babes and a lightsaber style weapon.

No further details are currently available, but Danny Trejo is certain to return to the title role.
