Giancarlo Esposito Joins I, Alex Cross

Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”) has signed to star in Summit Entertainment’s I, Alex Cross, joining Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Ed Burns and Jean Reno in the Rob Cohen-directed thriller.

The movie, based on the James Patterson novel, was written by Kerry Williamson and Marc Ross. QED partners Bill Block and Paul Hanson are producing with Steve Bowen and Leopoldo Gout of James Patterson Entertainment.

A reboot of the character made famous by Patterson’s best-selling book series, I, Alex Cross follows the young homicide detective/psychologist as he meets his match in a serial killer. The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller. “I, Alex Cross” is the 16th book in the Alex Cross series.

Production of the film is scheduled to start this August.

Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production, and Michael Schaefer, Summit’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, are overseeing the project for the studio.
