There’s been a lot of competition to play the male lead in Old Boy director Park Chan-wook’s English language debut Stoker, which already has Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Nicole Kidman on board, but it looks like British actor Matthew (Watchmen) Goode has beat out would-be frontrunners Colin Firth and James Franco for the role.
The film is a thriller about a teen girl (Wasikowska) mourning the death of her father who then encounters a mysterious uncle she had never met, played by Goode.
Working from a screenplay by Wentworth Miller and with Tony and Ridley Scott producing, the South Korean filmmaker will be working in English for the first time with Fox Searchlight already on board to release the movie.
