Stanley Tucci Joins The Hunger Games

Stanley Tucci is the latest name to join director Gary Ross’ adaptation of the bestselling Suzanne Collins novel, The Hunger Games.

Targeted for a PG-13 rating, the film is based on the young adult novel and tells the tale of a dystopic future and the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight to the death on live television. Tucci will play Caesar Flickerman, a part that is officially described by the studio as follows.

Caesar Flickerman is utterly familiar to all the citizens of Panem as the l host of the Hunger Games. Known for his outrageous appearance and buoyant personality, his upbeat interviews of the 24 tributes – a boy and a girl from each of the country’s 12 districts – are presented on every television in the nation. He is famous for turning any conversation around to the positive and finding humor in even the most dire circumstances.

Tucci joins the ever-growing cast that already includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley, Elizabeth Banks, Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Jack Quaid, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields, Paula Malcomson, Ian Nelson, Kalia Prescott, Ethan Jamieson, Tara Macken, Chris Mark, Jacqueline Emerson, Ashton Moio, Kara Petersen, Sam Ly, Leigha Hancock, Samuel Tan, Mackenzie Lintz, Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurman.

Tucci appeared last year in Burlesque and Easy A and will next be featured in Captain America: The First Avenger and the upcoming Jack the Giant Killer.

The Hunger Games is set for release on March 23, 2012.
