First photo from the set of the Jumanji sequel

UPDATE: Dwayne Johnson has posted a photo of his own of the characters in the film, which we’ve added below, and revealed their names including: Kevin Hart’s Moose Finbar, Karen Gillan’s Ruby Roundhouse, Jack Black’s Professor Shelly Oberon, and Johnson’s own Dr. Smolder Bravestone. The original story follows:

Production has officially begun on Sony Pictures‘ upcoming Jumanji sequel and star Kevin Hart has shared the first photo from the set featuring himself and his co-stars as their characters. Check it out in the gallery below!

As we previously reported when Dwayne Johnson posted the first concept art for the film, it would appear that Hart and his co-stars are playing the “avatars” of the kids actually playing the Jumanji game in the film, which seems even more likely now given their eccentric wardrobe. You can read more about that by clicking here.

Johnson and Hart and joined by Jack Black, Nick Jonas, and Karen Gillan. Bad Teacher and Sex Tape helmer Jake Kasdan will direct from a screenplay by High Fidelity and Con Air scribe Scott Rosenberg with frequent Bad Robot executive producer Jeff Pinkner serving as a consultant. Matt Tolmach, William Teitler and Ted Field are producing. Mike Weber and Van Allsburg executive produce.

Jumanji is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson.
