DeRay Davis is heading to Sony Pictures’ big screen take on 21 Jump Street, Variety is reporting.
Davis, who next appears in Jumping the Broom, will join Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube and Brie Larson in the action comedy from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs writers/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
Based on the Fox series that ran from 1987 to 1991, the movie will center on two undercover cops (Hill and Tatum), who are assigned to work in schools.
Davis’ role is said to be that of a bike gang leader called Domingo whose crew is involved in drug dealing.
Production on 21 Jump Street is scheduled to begin shortly with the film aiming to hit theaters on March 16, 2012.
