CinemaCon Exclusive: Hugh Jackman on The Wolverine

Earlier today, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype had a chance to sit down with Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy to talk about their upcoming DreamWorks movie Real Steel–look for that interview and some thoughts on the footage shown at CinemaCon later–but before we finished, we wanted to ask Jackman about the status of The Wolverine now that Darren Aronofsky has left the project as director and with the crisis in Japan following the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear reactor problems triple whammy.

“We need to find another director and once we’ve found that, we’ll be able to know,” Jackman told us. “It’s too early to call on Japan, I’m not sure where they’re at, so now we’re finding another director, but Fox is very anxious to make the movie and we’re moving ahead full steam to find another director.”

That certainly sounds a lot more positive than some of the other reports we heard following Aronofsky’s departure, but Jackman is optimistic that he will work together with his director on The Fountain in the future.

“This one didn’t work out but hopefully there’ll be another one,” he said.

Look for the full interview and more about Real Steel  soon.
