Star Wars Actor Confirms a Rogue One Cameo

In addition to the return of characters Darth Vader and Mon Mothma, Star Wars actor Jimmy Smits revealed on CBS’ The Talk today that he will also have a small appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Talking about the sizzle reel from Star Wars Celebration, Smits said that Bail Organa will have a “cameo…  can you say the word ‘small part.'”

The adoptive father of Princess Leia, Smits played Organa in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The character died when the Death Star blows up the planet Alderaan in A New Hope, but Rogue One takes place before the events of that film.

Smits previously returned to the role when he voiced the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game in 2008.

Rogue One tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. Felicity Jones leads the cast as Jyn Erso alongside Mads Mikklesen who plays her father, Galen Erso. Diego Luna (Milk) stars as Captain Cassian Andor with Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II) as the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) as his heavily armored best friend Baze Malbus,, Alan Tudyk (Firefly) as the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) as the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, plus Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) as Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn (BloodlineMississippi Grind) as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release on December 16, 2016.
