Paramount to Remake Soapdish

Paramount announced today, through The Hollywood Reporter, its plans to remake the 1991 comedy Soapdish with Ben Schwartz attached to develop the screenplay.

The original film starred Sally Field, Kevin Kline and Robert Downey Jr. (alongside a diverse supporting cast) in telling the backstage story of a television soap opera.

Schwartz, best known as a writer on “Robot Chicken” and an actor with minor roles in films like The Other Guys and Mystery Team, will also appear in the upcoming Peep World.

Alan Greisman, producer on the original film, will return for the remake, this time producing alongside Rob Reiner.
