Martin Scorsese Taking Over The Wolf of Wall Street ?

Though news broke last year that Ridley Scott was taking over the proposed adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir, The Wolf of Wall Street, Vulture now says the project has fallen back into the hands of Martin Scorsese whose involvement in the film goes back nearly four years.

The project would star Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of Belfort, telling the rise-and-fall story of the founder of a brokerage firm in the late ’80s and early ’90s, who ultimately is sent to jail for financial fraud.

Vulture claims the project has already been given the go-ahead and that Scorsese will tackle it as his follow-up to Hugo Cabret, though The Playlist says his next project will actually be Silence, the adaptation of “Shusaku Endo’s drama about two 17th century Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.”
