Ice Cube looks to be up for a role in the big screen adaptation of the hit television series 21 Jump Street, reports Variety.
The film, set to be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will star Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as a pair of undercover police officers operating as high school students. Cube’s role would be that of Captain Dickson, the police officer in charge of the operation.
While names for the Hill’s and Tatum’s characters have not been released, Dickson is a name that does not come from the original series, lending further credence to reports that negotiations are taking place to have Johnny Depp reprise his role as Officer Tom Hanson for at least a cameo.
The film is expected to enter production soon, eyeing a March 16, 2012 release.
