Jennifer Lawrence is set to headline Savages, Deadline is reporting.
The film, first announced last year, will arrive from director Oliver Stone and will adapt Don Winslow’s 2010 bestseller.
The novel deals with two friends and pot-dealers from Laguna Beach. As their business thrives, they come up against a Mexican drug cartel who kidnaps and holds for ransom their shared girlfriend (Lawrence). Though they agree to pay the ransom, the friends decide to come up with an alternate plan to get her back and get revenge.
Lawrence, who next appears as Mystique in X-Men: First Class, is Oscar-nominated for her role in 2010’s Winter’s Bone.
