Deadline is reporting that a network has come on board the “Transporter” TV show that will be based on the three-picture franchise from Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp that starred Jason Statham. EuropaCorp is keeping the network name under wraps for now.
The site says shooting on the $48 million, 12-part series will start early next year, with the first episodes being delivered in early November. French producer Lagardere Entertainment is financing the show, having licensed “The Transporter” from EuropaCorp.
EuropaCorp is also looking into developing a “Taken” series, but not until after Liam Neeson starts shooting the sequel in the spring.
Besson himself is shooting Lockout in Poland and will wrap before Christmas. The sci-fi action film, starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, will be released in early 2012 by FilmDistrict.
