Locke & Key Finds a Director, Star

News of creative development on Fox’s upcoming “Locke & Key” is flooding in today with word from Deadline that Miranda Otto has joined the cast and that Mark Romanek is in talks to direct the pilot.

Based on the comic book series by Joe Hill and distributed by IDW Publishing, “Locke & Key” tells of Keyhouse, a New England mansion with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them. The building is also home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all.

Otto is set to star in the Steven Spielberg-produced series as Nina Locke, a mother of three who moves into Keyhouse after a terrible tragedy. Otto previously appeared on television in the miniseries “The Starter Wife,” though is probably best known for her role as Eowyn in “The Lord of the Rings” films.

Romanek, meanwhile, made his feature directing debut with One Hour Photo and most recently directed Never Let Me Go.
