Vulture is reporting that “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan has signed on to write the script for Paramount’s Without Remorse, based on Tom Clancy’s 1993 best-seller. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are expected to produce with David Ellison’s Skydance Productions.
“Without Remorse” centers on former Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Kelly, code-named Mr. Clark, who first appeared in 1994’s Clear and Present Danger (played by Willem Dafoe). Liev Schreiber also played the character in 2002’s The Sum of All Fears.
Stuart Beattie wrote the original draft of the script.
Ryan is currently executive producing the new FX series “Terriers.”
