Ronald Reagan Biopic in the Works

The Hollywood Reporter says that the story of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, is in development.

The $30 million movie, titled Reagan, is set for release late next year and will be based on two best-selling biographies by Paul Kengor: “The Crusader” and “God and Ronald Reagan.”

Mark Joseph, who optioned the books four years ago, is co-producing with Ralph Winter (“X-Men” films, Planet of the Apes) and Jonas McCord (Ray, Holes, The Passion of The Christ) wrote the script.

Reagan begins with the 1981 assassination attempt and tells Reagan’s story through flashbacks and flash-forwards.

A “Reagans” movie, starring James Brolin as the president, premiered on Showtime in November of 2003.
