Chloe Moretz Gets into The Rut

L.A. Times’ 24 Frames blog has an exclusive report on the next movie from writer/director Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), a movie called The Rut, which will star Chloe Moretz, the breakout star from Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, who will also star in Matt Reeves’ horror remake Let Me In later this year and is starring in Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret as well.

Moretz will play the latter part of a father-daughter relationship that takes place in the world of hunting where Moretz’s character has to use tricks taught to her by her father to survive when he goes missing. It’s a bit of a departure from Kusama’s genre roots between the horror of Jennifer’s Body or her previous sci-fi action flick Aeon Flux, although it does continue the run of strong female protagonists that began with Kusama’s debut Girlfight, starring Michelle Rodriguez, which was honored with a Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2000.
