AMC Theatres to host exclusive pre-release Warcraft screenings in IMAX 3D
AMC Theatres and IMAX Corporation are teaming up with Legendary and Universal to bring Warcraft screenings to fans one day before the epic 3D adventure’s official release. Beginning Wednesday, June 8 at 7 p.m., fans at 12 AMC locations in 10 markets can see Warcraft, based on Blizzard Entertainment’s global phenomenon, in IMAX 3D, 24 hours before its release, scheduled in theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. June 9. Tickets for the June 8 event are on sale now online at AMCTheatres.com/Warcraft and at the box office at participating locations.
“Long-time fans have waited years to see this story on the big screen, and we’re ecstatic to provide them with the opportunity to become immersed in the story through The IMAX Experience a day before it’s available anywhere else,” said Elizabeth Frank, executive vice president and chief content & programming officer, AMC Theatres.
“We are excited to work with our friends and partners at AMC in offering our most loyal fans this exclusive early release of ‘Warcraft’ — a direct bullseye for our core fan-boy audience — in IMAX 3D,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment.
In addition to being the first to see the movie, fans who attend the IMAX preview screenings at AMC will receive an event lanyard and mini one-sheet, and the screening will include 10 minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews direct from the red-carpet premiere.
Ticket prices for the AMC-IMAX debut varies by location. Tickets for all other Warcraft opening weekend showtimes are available beginning May 6. For more information and to purchase tickets, guests can visit amctheatres.com/warcraft.
