Julianne Moore in Talks for Kingsman 2 Villain Role

According to Heat Vision, Oscar winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) is circling the lead villain role in 20th Century Fox’s Kingsman 2, the sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service that became a surprise hit, grossing $128 million domestically and another $286 million overseas for a worldwide total of $414.4 million.

Moore is currently set to co-star in frequent collaborator Todd Haynes’ new picture Wonderstruck, as well as co-starring with Matt Damon and Josh Brolin in director George Clooney’s Suburbicon. Right now she and Fox are trying to work out the scheduling issues, but if it cannot be resolved, they may have to look for another actress.

Matthew Vaughn is confirmed to direct Kingsman 2, the first sequel he’s ever personally helmed, with Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle) returning to his star-making role as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, who is now fully-trained secret agent. While the first film took place primarily in England, the new one is said to focus more on the USA and the American branch of the title covert Secret Service agency. Colin Firth is not expected to return in either a flashback or as a new character, although the possibility of him playing his own twin brother was bandied about before being abandoned.

20th Century Fox has set a June 16, 2017 release date for Kingsman: The Secret Service 2.
