Deadpool sequel already in the works
20th Century Fox is already working on the Deadpool sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) are writing the script for the follow-up, which the trade says has received the green light.
Deadpool is reportedly tracking to open with at least $65 million over the upcoming four-day domestic holiday weekend. Tim Miller directed the film, though he is not signed on to helm the Deadpool sequel yet.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Ryan Reynolds stars as the title character alongside T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, voiced by Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic.
