Get ready for a Deadpool Super Bowl as the Merc with a Mouth heads to the big game

Get ready for a Deadpool Super Bowl! The Hollywood Reporter has today run a breakdown of the movie-related ads that fans are likely to witness when they tune in for the big game on Sunday, February 7. It looks like Deadpool Super Bowl festivities are slated to surround the sporting event, beginning with a special food truck outside the stadium the prior Friday. Ryan Reynolds himself will hand out chimichangas before taking part in a special Deadpool Super Bowl screening Saturday night. For Deadpool fans not in San Francisco, fear not. New ads are planned during the game both on television and as part of Deadpool‘s popular social media campaign.

20th Century Fox also has plans to bring their Independence Day: Resurgence to San Francisco in some capacity with at least Jeff Goldblum and Liam Hemsworth in attendance at the game. The trade also says to expect promotions tied to the studio’s X-Men: Apocalypse and Eddie the Eagle.

Walt Disney Pictures and Universal have both purchased Super Bowl commercial spots, but have not yet revealed exactly which films they will be promoting. Paramount, meanwhile, will offer a new look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Sony and Warner Bros. are reportedly sitting out the game, although the latter will potentially still promote their much anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice through a promotional partner.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Tim Miller is directing Deadpool from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Confirmed to be rated RDeadpool is scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016.
