Along Came a Spider to the Doctor Strange Set

Spider-Man star Tom Holland has been seen on the Doctor Strange set!

Yesterday, Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito shared via social media a few behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Marvel’s now-in-production “Phase Three” entry, Doctor Strange. Today, D’Esposito is back on the Doctor Strange set and he has apparently brought along a few friends. Not only does D’Esposito offer some new shots of the Doctor Strange set and confirm that Sinister‘s C. Robert Cargill is re-teaming with with director Scott Derrickson on Strange, but one photo offers an intriguing image of D’Esposito, Derrickson and Marvel’s new Spider-Man, Tom Holland!

Of course, just because Tom Holland visited the Doctor Strange set, that doesn’t mean that we’ll be seeing Spidey alongside the Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts and it’s quite likely that if Holland did have a cameo, Marvel wouldn’t jump to share that information on social media. Still, Spidey and Strange have had quite a few adventures together in the comics and Strange actually played a large role in Peter Parker’s life following the events of Civil War.

Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive) as The Ancient One and, in undisclosed roles, Rachel McAdams (The Vow), Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice), Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum), Amy Landecker (“Transparent”), and Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal”).

Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is also scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Passengers). It is said to follow the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

It is confirmed that Spider-Man will make his first MCU appearance in next summer’s Captain America: Civil War, hitting theaters May 6, 2016. He’ll then get his own solo film, directed by Cop Car‘s Jon Watts, to follow Doctor Strange on July 28, 2017.

What do you think this Doctor Strange set photo means? Will Spidey make an appearance or is this just a red herring? Let us know in the comments below!
