Alexandra Daddario Reteams with Dwayne Johnson for Baywatch

Following word earlier this month that seven actresses were up for one of the female leads in Baywatch, Dwayne Johnson has now confirmed that his San Andreas co-star Alexandra Daddario has landed the role of Summer and that we’ll find out who plays C. J. Parker (played by Pamela Anderson in the series) in the movie adaptation soon. Johnson said:

IT’S OFFICIAL: Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of “Summer”. Alex is a one of kind woman (I know from experience) and can’t wait for you guys to see her own the role.

The female roles of #BAYWATCH have become extremely hot properties around Hollywood and as promised, the quality women we’ll cast are stepping into these roles to have fun and make them iconic for the world to enjoy.

The #BaywatchFamily so far consists of a tatted up bald guy named Rock, the cool, yet extremely unattractive Zac Effron, the talented and gorgeous Alexandra Daddario…and some big casting announcements coming soon.

And juuuuust wait til you guys see who we cast for the iconic role of CJ Parker….

Other actresses who were up for the role were Ashley Benson (“Pretty Little Liars,” Spring Breakers), Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries,” The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Shelley Hennig (“Teen Wolf,” Unfriended), Bianca Santos (The DUFF, Ouija), Alexandra Shipp (who will be playing Storm in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse) and Denyse Tontz (“Big Time Rush,” “Dog with a Blog”).

Although several writers have been attached to Baywatch, the most recent draft hails from the Friday the 13th pair of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Earlier reports suggested that the film will offer a comedy-heavy take that has little to do with the original series. Parts were reportedly written, however, for both Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff to reprise their roles. Whether or not that remains the plan is, at the moment, unconfirmed. As always, check back for updates as they become available.
