James Cameron’s Avatar passed up the filmmaker’s own Titanic at the domestic box office on Tuesday to claim that crown as well. Avatar reached $601,141,551 after 47 days to pass up the $600,788,188 that Titanic earned its entire run.
Internationally, Avatar had already passed up Titanic‘s $1,242,413,080, and now stands at $1,446,989,293.
Worldwide, Avatar has brought in $2,048,130,844 so far, while Titanic earned $1,843,201,268 total.
