‘The Batman’ Rumored to be Releasing in 2018, Ben Affleck Said to be Directing

Ever since it was announced the Man of Steel sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, would feature Batman, fans have been clamoring to find out when the next solo Batman film would come out. However, when Warner Bros. announced their slate of DC films, there wasn’t a Batman film to be found. Of course, plans change, and according to Latino Review, we might get to see Ben Affleck fly solo as Batman in 2018.

In the same report about the Captain Marvel is released.

The Batman, as it’s rumored to be titled, will be directed by Affleck himself with Chris Terrio (Argo) penning the screenplay. Terrio recently came aboard to help script Batman v Superman after Affleck was cast. Terrio previously worked with Affleck on Argo, for which he won an Oscar, so it’s clear why Warner Bros. is keen on keeping him around to write The Batman.

Warner Bros. already has The Flash and Aquaman scheduled for 2018, so it’ll be interesting to see if this comes to fruition. It should be noted, however, that while there has been plenty of movement on Aquaman with James Wan recently attached to direct, we haven’t heard anything about The Flash. Could a solo Batman film be the reason, possibly delaying a Flash film, which is expected to star Ezra Miller?

Then again, beginning in 2017, Marvel Studios will begin releasing three films a year, so it’s not unheard of for WB to try the same. I just wonder if they won’t try to put The Batman into a better Summer position instead of this rumored November slot.

Add this rumor to the list of items we might get answers for at next month’s San Diego Comic-con where Warner Bros. is expected to have a large presence.
