Don’t give me a hard time over the accuracy of Fandango’s video claiming it would cost roughly $23.4324 billion to create the park seen in the original Jurassic Park, but their video does seem to have gone to great lengths to arrive at that number taking into account real estate, staff, research and development, park construction, dinosaur care, etc. Now, the one thing they don’t go into are lawsuits for lawyers eaten by a T-Rex or caretakers mauled by velociraptors, though they do add it would cost somewhere around $11.9 billion each year to maintain the park. Worth it?
In other news, Jurassic World is expected to rake in somewhere around $125 million this weekend, at least as of right now. Fandango reports the 14-years-in-the-coming sequel is currently outselling all of Summer 2014’s blockbusters which includes Guardians of the Galaxy, Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Transformers: Age of Extinction at the same point in those films’ sales cycles on Fandango as it represents more than 90% of the weekend’s ticket sales. Of those films mentioned, Transformers was the only to open north of $100 million (and just barely), while the others ranged from $90-95 million.
