Originally titled Conner4real, The Lonely Island crew — Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone — are heading to the big screen with a comedy mockumentary that appears to no longer have an official title, but Universal Pictures has set a release date.
The Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie (Universal’s words) will hit theaters on June 3, 2016 and will see Samberg star as a rapper (most likely named Conner4real) whose album bombs, leaving him with little career choice other than to re-form his old boy band. The film co-stars Tim Meadows as Samberg’s manager along with James Buckley and Sarah Silverman. Production will wrap on the project at the end of this week.
The comedy will face off against Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and the romance Me Before You starring Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin and Matthew Lewis. [BOM]
