The Licensing Expo is on and poppin’ in Las Vegas, showing off all the toys and marketing merchandise for upcoming films and one such film is Independence Day 2, which Roland Emmerich is returning to direct with the likes of Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox returning along with new stars Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King, William Fichtner, Sela Ward and Brent Spiner joining in.
Set for a June 24, 2016 release we still didn’t have much word on what it was all about, but, along with the poster you see below, Collider delivers the film’s first synopsis and it portends of a global disaster of an “unimaginable scale”.
After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
I guess the question is, will the aliens destroy the Earth or will humanity survive to fight another day? The tension is killing me!
