’24’ Spinoff in Works, For Now Without Jack Bauer

The clock has started to tick on a new spinoff of the popular Fox series “24.”

TV Line is reporting showrunner Howard Gordon confirmed a new twenty-something lead will be cast for a new “24” limited series, one with the potential for a long-term property.

Manny Coto and Evan Katz (last year’s miniseries “24: Live Another Day”) have been hired as writers and executive producers on the spinoff.

Series star Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) is not currently in the plans to join the new project as a regular, though TV Line says a guest appearance is not out of the question. The same goes for Yvonne Strahovski, who played Kate Morgan in “24: Live Another Day.”

The report also says a more experienced female agent will also be a part of the spinoff’s cast.

“24” continues to be one of the more beloved TV properties of the last decade, so a Jack Bauer-less continuation is a bold way to keep the franchise going. Sutherland has been the lifeblood of the series, so it’s doubtful his Bauer won’t at least get a mention in the new spinoff.

So, who would you like to see fill Sutherland’s shoes in the new series? Pitch your idea below.
