Jason Reitman to Dive into Animation with ‘Beekle’ for DreamWorks

Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman (Juno) is about to make a major departure for his next project.

[amz asin=”0316199982″ size=”small”]The Wrap reports Reitman has signed on to write and direct his first animated film, an adaptation of the children’s book “The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend,” for DreamWorks Animation. No release date was announced.

“Beekle” has already won the 2015 Caldecott Medal, the highest honor for children’s picture books. Dan Santat wrote and illustrated the book.
