Alicia Vikander in Talks for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ and New ‘Bourne’ Film

Alicia Vikander has been rising the ranks, and I think we should all be grateful for that. From A Royal Affair and Anna Karenina to this year’s terrific Ex Machina, she is easily one of those people who I will see whatever she is in. Well, it looks like she is entering the big-budget blockbuster mode with a couple of projects. And why wouldn’t she? I want those checks too.

She is in talks to join the Michael Fassbender-led adaptation of the popular video game Assassin’s Creed and Matt Damon/Paul Greengrass’s return to the Bourne franchise. Double-dipping. Good on ya, Alicia (we are on a first-name basis, FYI).

These being added to her schedule will most likely have her drop out of The Circle, starring Tom Hanks and to be directed by James Ponsoldt. That is disappointing because I really enjoy Ponsoldt’s work, especially The Spectacular Now and want to see these two work together. The producers are courting Emma Watson to take over the role. Y’know… Not a bad replacement. Not at all.

These are all projects I am interested in seeing, although Assassin’s Creed is lowest on the totem pole. I have never played the game or really know much about it, and video game adaptations have been… not very good, to put it mildly. Damon and Greengrass have proven twice they know what to do when it comes to Bourne, and I look forward to seeing if they can recapture that. And now that Alicia is involved, even more reason for me to see them.

Oh, and if you haven’t yet acquainted yourself with Alicia, you’ll have plenty more opportunities this year with The Light Between Oceans, Tulip Fever, The Danish Girl, Adam Jones and The Man From U.N.C.L.E..
