For as long as we’ve been hearing about Star Wars spinoff films it has been presumed one would center on the bounty hunter Boba Fett, first seen in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and almost immediately becoming every kid’s favorite evil character. Well, now we have confirmation from The Wrap that the film will indeed center on Monsieur Fett and will set out to tell his origin story.
Of course, this news comes only days after director Josh Trank left (Fantastic Four which allegedly caused producer Simon Kinberg to suggest going a different direction.
Kinberg is closely involved with the spinoff film, which, along with Gareth Edwards‘ Rogue One, will be outside the new trilogy of Star Wars films beginning with J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens this December.
As far as additional plot details are concerned, at the moment, there are none. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2018.
