‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Opens with Second Biggest Single Day Ever

Avengers: Age of Ultron will enjoy an opening weekend over $200 million. It will be the second movie to ever do so after the first Avengers film. Yesterday, it enjoyed the second biggest single day of all-time, tallying $84.5 million on Friday, second only to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2‘s $91 million from back in 2011. Expectation now, is for the film to finish somewhere from $203-215 million.

The Avengers took in $80.8 million on Friday when it opened back in 2012 on its way to a $207 million opening. Of course, expectation here is Thursday preview screenings and Friday screenings were far more frontloaded than the original film and with NBA and NHL playoffs this weekend, the Kentucky Derby and the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight tonight, there are a lot of events competing for eyeballs so it seems Age of Ultron may simply have to settle with the second best opening of all-time… not too bad if you ask me, we’ll have all the answers tomorrow morning.
